Katherine Courage

A Scientific American: Katherine Courage

Katherine Harmon Courage is an award-winning freelance journalist and contributing editor for Scientific American magazine.

She also writes for The New York Times, Wired, Popular Science, Nature, Science, Time, NPR, BBC and others. She is the author of two books: Octopus! The Most Mysterious Creature In the Sea (Current/Penguin Random House, 2013) and a forthcoming book about food and the microbiome (Pam Krauss Books/Penguin Random House, 2016). Her work has also been featured in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2013 (Mariner Books/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2013). She has appeared on TV and radio programs nationally and internationally discussing science and discoveries.

She has a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and bachelor’s degree from Vassar College. A few years ago she traded in the wilds of New York City for those of Colorado.
